How Can Our Parish Family Help Ukraine?

Posted on

Dear St. Michael's Parish Family,
Many are calling to ask how we can assist Ukraine. Could we ask for checks?--yes.  However, I feel this is a better way to involve our entire parish family.  After some research, I wanted our parish family to provide actual medical supplies that are desperately needed there right now. I also wanted to find a legitimate organization where the items would be transported and put to use quickly.  We will collect the supplies this week, Monday, March 7th-Saturday, March 12th, the last day...   We will not collect after the 12th.  There will be bins located inside all of the entrances of the church.  These supplies are being boxed and flown directly over to Poland by a team from Full Gospel Church in Westfield.  Their team of volunteers will unload in Poland and distribute the supplies themselves on the Poland-Ukraine Border.  They asked for new and specific supplies.  They do not want clothes or diapers.  Please: only donate what is listed below:
Benadryl pills
Pepto Bismol pills
Saline eye drops
Hydrocortisone cream 1%
Triple antibiotic ointment
Burn Aid
Saran Wrap
Large safety pins
Medical adhesive tape rolls
Adhesive bandages, several sizes
EMT shears
Depending on how much we collect in this time frame, we may need a few volunteers to help transport, but I will keep you posted on that as we get closer to the 12th.
I deeply appreciate all that you do for our Social Justice Ministry, our Outreach Program, our community, and for our parish.  You have all been so kind, generous and loving, and I cannot thank you enough for your continued support, and especially for our brothers and sisters in Ukraine.  They are truly hurting, and they need our support, love and especially our prayers right now.  Thank you again.
My love and gratitude to all of you,
