St. Vincent de Paul Society

“Neighbors Helping Neighbors”

Our St. Michael’s St. Vincent de Paul Society is part of a worldwide organization founded in Paris on February 23, 1833 and currently has over 700,000 members.  We call ourselves Vincentians, a dedicated, volunteer group of women and men who join together to grow spiritually by offering person-to-person service to those in need in the tradition of Blessed Frederic Ozanam, and patron, St. Vincent de Paul.

Our conference is currently composed of twelve active members and a dedicated group of associate members.  We called those whom we serve, “neighbors,” by …

  •  Assisting them with a past due bill, finding an apartment, getting an essential auto repair, etc.
  •  Organizing clothing drives, usually in the spring and fall, to support the Community Survival Center at 240 Main Street in Indian Orchard, MA.
  •  Supporting the “Meals on Wheels”, a food service program for our elderly in East Longmeadow.
  •  Feeding the hungry by purchasing, preparing, and serving meals at the Loaves and Fishes and Friends of the Homeless kitchens in Springfield every month.
  •  Providing gift cards for citizens returning from the criminal justice system for the purchase of personal necessities.
  •  Buying, wrapping, and delivering Christmas gifts to an adopted family.
  •  Offering community service opportunities for East Longmeadow High School students.
  •  Contributing to our parish outreach program, especially at Easter and Christmas.
